  • 1. INTROUDUCTION:
     
    Post Diploma Courses in nursing aim at improving the quality of nurses working in the specialty departments or areas. In the present era of scientific and technological advancement, of specialization and super- specialization, nurses also need to update their knowledge and skill so as to provide cost effective quality care to patients in different specialty areas. The Post Diplomas in Nursing has been planned, in order to prepare the registered nurses to function effectively in various intensive care units.
     
    The clinical treatment and nursing care has advanced rapidly along with new high-end therapeutic and diagnostic equipments. The use of these specialized equipments is possible only if the nurses in specialty units have the skill to handle these equipments and an in-depth knowledge of how to interrupt the data provided by these bio-medical equipments. It is also necessary to improve the professional standards by providing quality care to patients as per Standard Operation Procedures.
     
    2. PHILOSOPHY
     
    The faculty of nursing believes that nursing as a profession requires continuous updating of knowledge and skills in the areas of clinical specialty to render quality services and to maintain standards in collaboration with other health professionals.
     
    The Post Diplomas in Nursing prepares nurses through adequate clinical exposure and experience to develop observation, analytical thinking,
     
    Skills, competencies and standards required for managing patient in respective specialty areas.The faculty also believes that adult learners need independence and the course uses adult educational theories, where the teacher takes the role of a facilitator.
     
    3. AIMS
     
    The course is designed to assist the students in developing expertise and in- depth understanding in the respective fields of nursing. It will help the students to develop advanced skills for nursing intervention. It will further enable the students to function as educator, manager and researcher in the respective field.

    5. DURATION AND COURSE OF STUDIES
     
    This  is  FULL TIME REGULAR  course  and  the  total  duration  is  6 months from the date of commencement of the course.
     
    The syllabus are as per prescribed by Indian Nursing Council in collaboration with various other national and international universities, premiere medical institutions and important societies working in the field of alternative medicines
     
    6. ACADEMIC ELIGIBILITY

    i. Applicant should have passed B. Sc. Nursing (Regular) Degree course / Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing (Regular) course / General Nursing and Midwifery ( GNM ) Course with 50% marks, from an institution recognised by Indian Nursing Council and concerned state Nursing Council.

    ii. Applicant should have obtained registration with Kerala Nurses and Midwives Council and the registration certificate / copy of the receipt of application  for  registration  in  ANMC,  is  to  be  submitted  along  with application.

    iii. Applicants should be physically fit

    iv. At least ONE year of clinical experience as a staff nurse  is preferred.

    v. The upper age limit of applicants shall be 30 years as on the last date for submission of application.

     
    7.SELECTION CRITERIA
     
    The selection of the eligible candidate will be based on the rank list prepared on the basis of marks of the qualifying examination, written test and interview.
     
    8. ADMISSION 
     
    Selected candidates are required to complete the admission formalities within the specified date. They should pay the required fee at the time of admission and the originals of the following certificates shall be submitted:
    - SSLC certificate
    - Proof of Date of Birth (if not recorded in SSLC certificate)
    - Mark list of Plus Two / Equivalent examination
    - Mark lists of all parts of the qualifying examination- GNM / B.Sc.(N) / PB B.Sc. (N)
    - GNM / B.Sc.(N) / PB B.Sc. (N)Certificate
    - Registration certificate issued by the Registrar, of various state Nursing Council. The candidates having registration certificate from other state Nursing Councils should also attaché the copy of the receipt through which they have applied for registration in Assam Nurses and Midwives Council
    - Service details with supporting experience certificates, if applicable.
    - Transfer certificate (TC) from the institution last attended
    - Course and conduct certificate from the institution last attended.
    - Six copies of Passport Size Photographs, out of which one copy shall be laminated on the front. 
    - One set of photocopy of all the above original documents attested by a Gazette Officer
     
    9. FEES TO BE REMITTED AT THE TIME OF ADMISSION (in INR)

    If a student discontinues the course after the commencement of the course, they will not be eligible to get the refund of the remitted fee except caution deposit. And they are required to repay the stipend already received, if any.
     
    10. UNIFORM
     
    The students have to wear the prescribed uniform.
     
    11. HOSTEL
     
    Hostel facilities are available for the female trainees.
     
    12. MINIMUM REQUIREMENT FOR COUNCIL/ UNIVERSITY  EXAMINATION
     
    The students should have a minimum of 80% of attendance both in theory and practical. Students should make up 100% attendance for integrated practice experience and internship in term of hours and activities before awarding the certificate.
     
    13. CODE OF CONDUCT
     
    Every student is required to adhere strictly to the code of conduct of the school and hospital.Ragging / any type of misconduct towards any student either in the campus or outside will be considered as criminal offence and will be immediately reported to the police. Perpetrators will not be permitted to continue their studies.
     
    14. NURSING TEACHING FACULTY( As per INC Norm)
     
       Full time teaching faculty in the ratio of 1:5
       Minimum number of teaching faculty should be 2 (Two) 
     
    Qualification :   1. M.Sc. (N) with Medical Surgical/Speciality Course 
                               2. Post Basic Diploma in Speciality Course 
     Experience :    Minimum 3 years 
    Guest Faculty: Multi-Disciplinary in related specialties
     
     
    15. PHYSICAL FACILITIES( As per INC Norm)
       
        1. Class Room : 1 
        2. Nursing Laboratory : 1 
        3. Library : Permission to use medical/hospital library having current nursing textbooks & journals in related specialties 
        4. Teaching Aids : Facilities for the use of  
                a. Overhead projector
                b. Slide Projector
                c.TV with VCR/VCP, DVD player,
               d.  DVD’s, CD’s Video cassettes  LCD projector
                e. Computer
                f.  Internet facility
               g. Equipment for demonstration of skills (Simulators/models, ostomy bags and equipments, manikins etc.)
